The Truth About Daddy

Father please come to me

And tell me that you always loved me

Tell me the days on the sea

So maybe for a moment my soul becomes free

Years ago we all stood

Snugly in our winter hoods

We danced and played in the snow

Then you looked at your watch and it was time to go

We got in our truck and drove away

Not very happily because its far away

For mother to let me stay

Much happier that way

Your eyes told me one thing

As you spoke another

In this car

Was my sleeping brother

He stirred to find

Daddy's piece of mind

About what mommy's really like

And to think we didn't mind the fight

As they carried on all night

Things from their normal places took flight

Courage filled my little mind

I stepped in the room one last time

Our family became broken and disturbed

Then daddy was kicked to the curb

Still the fights carried on

Like some very angry rap song

Then one day I came to find

What happens inside my daddy's mind

He pulls the trigger

Then a squeeze

Shortly after I fall to my knees

I begin to cry

As I watch him die

I remember the days

When I was young

And there was still a sun
