SUCH COURAGE AND THREE QUARTERS

Folder:
JOURNAL #27

wounded small bird

assaulted in mid flight

the arrow that pierces your neck

proposes death

to your beautiful life

yet in this moment of reckoning

you evade its trespass

so noble and graceful a navigator

my heart swells at the sight of

defiance and courage

you in your determination and wisdom

delay the arrow's intention

for just another hour

dying only upon the final draining of your

own majestic power

and far out  of sight of your would be

conqueror's eye

you then

the now supposed victim

exit the hatred of this world

victorious yourself

your demise

though forced

still to you

a very private matter

I can not fault you

this one small morsel of pride

ever free warrior of the gentle skies

flapping your glorious spirit's wings

all the way up and through the tree gates of Heaven

dignified and wholely un compromised

through my shutter

over such a conflicting matter

my spirit cheers you on tirelessly

ecstatic upon your thwarting

that careless murderer of the skies

most beloved inhabitants...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

a horrific scene I once witnessed someone shoot at a bird. The arrow hit the bird but it flew far far off and the man who shot it lost his arrow and he never found his prey dead which made me happy. I can still hear him cursing the lost of such an expensive arrow. It made me happy that that bird was able to deny him that.
