finally begins to grow dim
barely allowing for me
to see your devilish grin
and your mischevious eyes
slowly becoming glossed over
as the alcohol starts to sink in
knocking away your protective cover
making your heart open and weary
allowing your feelings to tumble out
you try to pass them off as nothing
wondering how they managed to escape
you glance at me, waiting, wondering
hoping I would ignore the moment
expecting me to just dismiss them
as if they weren't that important
instead, I took them all in
then I slowly approached you
confided in you my true feelings
wondering what you were gonna do
hoping that letting you know
that your feelings were reciprocated
wouldn't scare you away
as I had already anticipated
Instead you lowered your mouth
until it finally landed softly on mine
kissing me, oh so gently, before
whispering that you'll love me for all time
