The End of Animals

The End of Animals

The animal kingdom was going through a crisis. King Mohatu, the lion, called for an urgent meeting with all the animals he could gather. Apparently many of them haven’t been seen since last week. 2 giraffes, 4 tiggers, 6 cocodrills , and all 10 of the elephants were missing.  Everyone was wondering why the animals were missing, especially why all of the elephants were completely gone. The crocodile explained how all of his family disappeared over night , and how he was the last of his kind. The giraffe, had a similar situation where both her brothers were gone and nowhere to be found.

The Lion King said: “Everyone please calm down, this is probably some kind of coincidence , I’m sure everyone will be back home soon”.

The meeting was over and everyone went to sleep, hoping to see their loved ones again.

The following week there was an even bigger surprise, Mohatu had to call for another meeting. Though this time only half of the animals showed up. Everyone was panicking about the sudden disappearance of half the kingdom. The King was perplexed, and wasn’t able to think of an answer so he asked his kingdom.

“Does anyone in my kingdom know why this is happening?”

“We have been taking the land for granted”, said a tiny mouse from the back,

“it wants us to pay her back”

Everyone laughed, how can the land be angry at them, they haven't done anything wrong.  “Instead of wasting all our excess food and water we need to put it back where it came from in order for it not to go to waste, it's the only way”, said the mouse.

“Roaaar” said Mohatu, “That doesn't make any sense. And anyhow how could a mouse with a tiny brain like yours be correct”

Everyone made fun of the mouse. The meeting continued and no solution was reached among the other animals so everyone went home and hoped everything would solve itself.

The next meeting came and very few animals remained. Most of the species were completely gone already, and most of them had only one or two members left, except for the mouses. The mouse and his family were all there, they had been following his advice of taking care of their land. When the King saw this he realized his mistake and asked:

“Mouse, please help us, what can we do now?”.

“Nothing” said the mouse “It is too late now”

The days passed and slowly all of the remaining animals disappeared leaving an Earth empty of animal life.
