A Night Full of Lights

Once again, I find myself caught in the same situation:

Alone in the dark with nothing but my thoughts and the sounds of machine gun fire to occupy my time.

Funny how there are more thoughts flying around then the twenty thousand rounds zipping down range, lighting the night like a swarm of sub sonic fireflies.

Most of them aren't even anything real. Mostly nonsense that just plausible enough to listen to. Thoughts of times long passed, people long forgotten, the occasional old joke that stopped being funny a while ago.

Then there are the thoughts that keep me up at night. The ones about the future, and the inherent fears and dangers that accompany it. The thoughts about what course of action was the best. The thoughts about love, los, anger, confusion, so on and so forth.
