The First Step

I stand here wondering,

Hoping that all these faces

Do not hold the same feelings

Towards me that my father places.

He does not know, who I am,

He doesn't know, my sexuality,

He just wouldn’t accept the facts

Or realize the true reality.

I can tell the whole glaring world,

I'm bisexual, I'll say it proud,

So cover my father's fragile ears,

So I can scream it so loud.

He just would not understand,

He made his views so clear,

But would he change if he knew,

Or would it fill his old mind with fear.

I have to tell him, one day soon,

Open up his eyes, make him see,

This is no phase or messed up game,

But bisexuality is really me.
