LOVE SUFFICIENT UNTO ITSELF
We give to each other at the expense of something else;
Conflict is our nature. From our emotional exchange
We only know how we are formed from without.
As lovers meeting each other we step up to a boundary;
The expectations we have is the promise of fulfillment;
The hunter expects the catch and his wife a happy home.
Each day we stand in front of each other’s heart curtain
As a bleating lamb waiting to be fed and suckled, but
Where is the shepherd if all that exist is hungry sheep?
On the stage of the heart when lights come on, we see
An actor not unlike our self, who unlike Prometheus,
Is merely a common citizen in need of state largesse.
In the need of the moment we paint a sketchy image,
And the contrast of the sketched out lines is rarely
The portrait of the conjured up masterpiece envisioned.
What we consecrate as a pure event in the heart space
Must come from unchanging event horizons where we
Are accepting each of our beings sufficient unto itself.
