holding you tonight
i saw the so called light
on me it shown too bright

holding you tight
nothing feels more right
my finally answered plight

but holding you inside
looks like one tough ride
one whose rules i cant abide

holding you close
is by the thorn holding the rose
taking you with all your flaws

see, holding you here
is bringing to life that old fear
of a broken heart's stinging tear

so holding you now
is the only way i know how
to take goodbye's final bow
