Walking on the beach
Walking hand in hand
We soak in the sun's rays
As we sink into the sand

I hear you whisper something
And it gives me a smile
It took some time to get here
But it's definitely worthwhile

I think about the particles
Of sand, where we stand
How every one is different
Like the lines on your hand

We hear the soft hymns
Of the birds in the morning
"Nothing lasts forever"
They seem to be warning

Still, we revel
As we step into the water
Completely ignorant
Like lambs to the slaughter

We're in our own world
Full of joy and celebration
We know the sun will go down
But we're caught up in elation

Optimism is the
Flavour of the moment
We visualize an earth
That excels without torment

We look at one another
And we knew it's time
We know we have to leave now
But the day has been sublime

And even as it gets dark
And now we are apart
We won't forget today
We'll keep it in our hearts
