"The Last Day"

John got up late, surprised by his alarm because it didn’t sound ... he got dressed and then tried to brush his teeth, but he couldn’t, there was no water in the tap; a little bit later he walked out the front door, astonished by the smell of sulfur that was in the air at that moment and even more by the color red of the sky.

He walked to his car, but the car locks didn’t open. He put the key in the door and opened it, then he go inside and try to start it…but nothing happen, it didn’t work. It was when he realized that there was nobody on the street, no traffic, no sound of birds ... just the sound of the wind moving the trees, the sound of silence.

We walked to the nearest store maybe the person in charge of it will be there but…he wasn’t.

He took as much as he could of food and drinks, he put them on the shopping cart and took it to his house, and locked himself in it.

He went to bed, he was trying to sleep but he couldn’t…then after a long time he finally felt asleep, he was hoping that everything was just a nightmare, but when he opened his eyes he realized that it wasn’t.

He went for a walk, while his brain was working at full speed trying to understand what was going on...there was no water, no electricity, no animals, no people…no bodies to indicate that there had been an attack or accident ... way through the park, the only sound to be heard was the wind. The day was partly cloudy, but the sky was still colored red.

Way to the office where he used to work ... there was no one ... but everything was orderly, there was no sign that anyone had been there...nothing broken or stripped.

Thinking about his security, he went to the police station that was a few blocks away from his house; he took a shotgun and a rifle...and then went to a supermarket to grab as many clothes as he could.

He returned home, sat in the living room trying to figuring out what was going on.

We did not know what else to do because the night was approaching, he locked all the doors in the house and went to bed but could not sleep all night...there was so much wind and strange sounds that make him being thinking…

The next morning he went to an electronics store and take the generator that the store had on display; testing it with a tv and dvd player and they function. He returned home with the generator, tv, dvd and a lot of movies.

When he arrives he made the installation and put the generator in another room to avoid the noise, he connect the tv and the dvd and then he put a movie. He had lost his faith and he was trying to forget about that strange situation.

The last man on earth was watching a movie sitting in the living room when…someone knocked on his door.
