poem_210_Graduation

13 years of schooling

In preparation for this

The step to begin my dreams

With a graduation to miss

No more years of grade school

On to bigger things

Ready to take on the world

For whatever it brings

My freshman year I decided

The person that I would be

A modern Quincy of the times

The world’s best M.E.

It’s been a long travel

To get where I am now

But here I stand tall

Nearly finished, somehow

From family to friends

There are many I have to thank

Even if I’ve not met them all

My heart for them has sank

I know when I was in need

And my parents called to them

Regardless of our meeting

They held this not in condemn

Like a strong family should

They gave me such a foundation

With wishes, prayers, and words

That help me stay in determination

And to my friends

The amount is the same

Of thanks they deserve

For maintaining the flame

That kept me alive

That kept me going

Instead of a dilapidated mess

Because the love they were showing

Other activities

Help boost my pep

In pushing me to

That extra step

It’s been a long haul

It’s been a wild ride

It’s been 4 of the hardest

Years I’ve had to reside

The teacher’s are great

In the past years too

As they helped me move on

In pushing me through

I’m a 2008 graduate

Finally I am here

In success for ALL of you

That have pushed me to the clear

Onto Sam Houston State

14 more years of schooling

Before I get my doctorate

And a M.E. I’ll be ruling!
