The Final Resting Place

The Unsinkable Titanic sat along the English shore
As 2,200 people climbed aboard
Several days into the trip
An iceberg collided with the ship
Causing the Titanic to crack
Those who knew what happened, ran toward the back
Fearing that it would cause more harm
It was decided not to sound the alarm
Most of the 3rd class passengers couldn't get away
Exits were impossible due to locked passageways
Knowing that they would soon be dead
Hundreds gathered in a circle and prayed
Knowing that even if the lifeboats were filled to capacity
There would still be at least a thousand casualties
The longer the Titanic could stay afloat
More lives could be put in a boat
Right before the Titanic broke in half
The Captain released his staff
Those that were left aboard struggled with all of their might
They tried to hold on but it was to be a lost fight
You could hear the people yell and shout
As they lost their grips and fell out
As they slid across the deck they tried to grab a hold
To keep from falling in the water that was freezing cold
866 people were saved by the lifeboats
The remainder perished because they couldn't stay afloat
On April 15, 1912 over a thousand people did drown
As the Titanic went to it's final resting place 2 1/2 miles down.
