FRAGGLES

The dew drops on the web,
glistened.
Caught by the early morn’s sun.
Leaves rustled as the birds began to preening.
the wood came alive.

Below the ground, the worms tunnelled.
Fraggles stirred in their burrows.
A light flickered,
and a thousand miles away .
A light flickered back.

Radios hummed, typewriter’s clacked.
Maps unrolled, went up on walls.
Ships changed course at sea.
In the wood the sun shone.

While below ground, for the moment, they slept.
