Extended Metaphors

Theoretically,

we made sense.

But it only applied

when the conditions

were perfect,

when no outside force

had any effect on us.

Invariably,

someone would

shift our perspective

or destroy any semblance

of equilibrium.

We were unstable-

our love so elastic

it was bound to break,

resulting in inversely-

related interest.

Your attraction to me

diminished with

each added barrier;

your indifference

produced my substitution.

Practically,

we could never work.
