THE MAN THAT I AM

All those who think time can humble me,
Just like it humbled Alexander and Caesar,
Must bear in mind that I am quite different,
Than the two conquerors gone before me.
I am God's servant and faith is my strength,
And believing in His mercy is my strong shield,
I believe in my God and do good works,
And win even when foes stretch out at length.
I am a mystery to all those who know naught,
About the bond between Him and me,
And very plain and open to the intelligent ones,
Who know how to unravel every tangled knot.
I am not violent and dangerous at all,
For, kindness and love are the weapons I use,
However, when the hate-mongers stir up trouble,
My Maker, through me, makes all of them fall.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem is dedicated to all those who call me an enigma, a mystery and a man of contradictions. I am nothing except what my Lord God Allah has made of me. Greatness belongs to nobody and nothing except the real Greatest of them all: Allah, the One, the Unique.
