Pepe the selfish zebra
Once upon a time, in a faraway land in Africa, there was a very interesting zebra among the other ones, his name was Pepe and he was hated in the zebra community because of his bad mood and attitude.
Pepe did not care about what all the other animals thought of him, he just cared about eating grass and sleeping all day long, without any social interaction with other zebras. One day Pepe was eating when a baby zebra approached him and stared at the grass he was eating and after a couple of minutes Pepe asked –Is there something you need or you just like staring at me and my food? - -I am sorry, it is just that I don’t know where my mother is and I haven’t eaten in days, could I have some of your grass? - The baby zebra asked – I do not think so dude, I am really hungry and I spent hours searching for something to eat, go and look for your mother- Pepe replied, then the baby zebra left with a sad expression on his face barely able to walk in order to search his mother. That same day Pepe went to sleep like any other day to his own tree, separated from the other animals.
In the morning, Pepe woke up to find that he was all alone, there were no zebras, no birds, no lions or any other kind of animal, soon after, Pepe realized that the only possible explanation was that they all died from a meteor just as the dinosaurs did, some million years before. So, there he was, Pepe all by himself in Africa, with every inch of grass and space to himself to eat and do whatever he wanted.
The first couple of days were good, he barely had to walk in order to find food, and he could sleep anywhere without the threat of lions or tigers being around at night, however, after the first week or so, he started to feel bored and sad, which made him realize that even though he got the food and life that he always dreamed of, he found himself in deep depression because of his loneliness, which lead him to sleep almost all day.
Nevertheless, one day Pepe woke up in the same spot he felt asleep the day before the meteor, and to his surprise all the animals were there, just as any other day in Africa, which made him realize that it was all a dream, and Pepe was nothing but happy that it was over, he was so relieved that his attitude changed from that day on, he was the most social and caring zebra, he shared all his food and went straight to the baby zebras house and apologized to him with 5 tons of fresh grass for him to eat,
to what the young zebra said –Thank you very much for the food - -Thank you to help me realize that not even if the world ended and I were all alone I would be happy – Pepe answered.
