TRAVELING WOMAN

Folder:
COUNTRY POEMS
  She was alone.
  She was far from home.
  She was on the road.
She was carrying a heavy load.
I could tell, she was not doing well.
She was gone a long time.  She, see, was not doing fine.
She was gone a time long.  She, see, was not strong.

I asked with a smile, if I could sit down and stay awhile.
I asked if she see, wanted to talk.  I asked if she wanted to walk.

All that we did do, true.
I never wanted it to be through.
We had so much fun.  I never wanted it to be done.
