An Empty Day

The air held no sign of breeze
Rocking chair on the porch held still
The porch had lost all of its emotion
By a lack in motivation to speak

Each tree had inched closer to the ground
Leaves hung low from the absence of water
Soil resting unter the grass stopped
The bugs refused to move

Clouds covering the earth from above
Breaking apart from the stillness in life
The sun beamed down on the people
Pushing heat to rest on the scene

I sat quietly on the porch
Listening for the rocking chairs welcoming scream
Nothing seemed to happen
Such an interesting empty day
