Moon Find.

The judge found me not guilty of manslaughter, but guilty of not overseeing that the propping up of the pit props at the colliery that I worked on as Engineer in chief. My sentence was two years on the moon as mining engineer.

The journey to the moon was as normal as taking a bus or train ride as in the old days before the automated car system was introduced in every village and town in the world. The rocket or should I say rocket ferry landed on the dark side of the moon. Each passenger had been fitted out with space suits that I found to be quite comfortable... The only snag was that one must be in a building to use the bath or toilets.

Even on the moon news travels quickly with the new mobile phone system that was built into the helmet of the space suit. A tunnel had been found between two of the hundreds of craters that exist on the moon’s surface. I as an Engineer was rushed by one of the many hoppers that is the transport of the moment on the moon. I have not fathomed out what method is used but as one enters the hopper a voice asks where shall I hop you to and as soon as one is comfortably seated a light noise and the hopper does that what it is called it hops and hops until it reaches your destination.

A hall like building had hastily been built over the tunnel like entrance. I with four other Engineers was shown to the actual tunnel. The walls were lit by some hidden lighting. We started our exploration. Who ever had tunnelled under the moon’s surface must have had great knowledge of using atomic cutters. This underground system must be thousands of years old. Another surprise two hundred yards into the tunnel, a door closed with no signs of how to open it. For a smile I called out Open Sesame. To all our surprise the door slid back into the wall and as I stepped into the room a low humming noise was to be heard. One wall of this large room was filled with switches each switch had a small plate with some form of writing on it.

I touched one switch and a soft music flooded the room another switch and heat appeared to be coming from the floor. Each switch controlled some life system the last switch turned one compete wall into a huge screen Seats rose from the floor and each man made himself comfortable we watched human shaped men and women landing on the moon’s surface. Space ships landed one after the other. From each of the spaceships machinery was unloaded and much to our astonishment robots built the machines together and soon a huge machine drilled into the moon’s surface. The scenes changed other space ships came with boxes and boxes full with what was later to be seen as furniture, crockery, bedding and everything that was necessary to sustain life on the moon. The show stopped and we went further along the tunnel other doors we opened using our voices. Each cave or Living space was as if the owner had gone away on holiday. Frames photo’s of the human like people showed a race that used the moon as a retreat basis. Later some of the Earth’s best scientists were sent to the moon to see how old this airless homestead was. To every bodies surprise the scientists using the carbon techniques came to the conclusion that this settlement was at least twenty thousand years old. Now the moon is out of bounds to all except Scientists that are trying to fathom out how such machines as used in this moon’s colony could be of use in our day and age.More later on when my brain box allows me to invent another story Bern.
