A perfect World

A million years ago in the universe a star exploded, the planets formed, the stars aligned and with this there was a new beginning. The gods of this new universe were entitled the creation of everything in this new planet called earth. They created from the clear blue skies to the deep blue ocean, from the green vast valleys to the yellow deserts and from the big scary lion to the small delicate butterfly. After they had created this beautiful new world, they now wondered what special quality they were to gift each living creature on this new planet.

“We should make all animals equal” said one god.

“I think each animal should have specific qualities, so that they can be unique in its kind” said another one.

“I agree” said the wisest of them all.

So, it was settled then. Each animal would possess a specific trait unlike any other. It would make them different from the rest and not easy to replace. The zebras with their black and white stripes were rarely mistaken, the lion with his loud roar that could be heard from miles away, the fast cheetah that ran one with the wind and the gazelle that had grace like no other.

Each and every one of the animals was special in its own way, and so a balance on this new planet earth now full of life, was created. All the animals were sent to live in their own graceful way. But for some it wasn’t enough, the bigger animals started thinking they deserved more than the little animals, they started thinking their qualities gave them more right to live in the planet earth than the other smaller animals. Cheetahs started growing jealous of the other’s animals traits, and started using their speed to hunt slower and smaller animals in order to show off their speed, Lions started showing egocentrism keeping away all the other animals from their territory with his loud roar. And zebras could no longer run around showing their beautiful stripes without being hunted down.

And this is how most of the gods, surprised by how the animals evolved, noticed that the bad had grown on their beautiful planet earth.

But the wisest of them all was not surprised at all, and without hesitation he said “This is what equality looks like, this is what balance is all about, everyone wants to keep everything beautiful, but they fail to notice balance can’t be achieved without both the good and the bad, that's what makes this earth perfect.”
