~ Dare I Reach Out? ~

     A touch, a smell, a spoken word,
a gentle, teasing sense of humor,
a glimpse into the way things were,
            reminded me today of you~

~You held me once, even in my tears,
listened, gave wisdom, in the face of fears,
    inspired me throughout the years
we shared our hearts, our home~

~But now, I wonder if I'll ever see
your eyes again, shining into me,
or if one of us will leave here before
we dare to open up this door~

~It's been there for too long, I know,
though  it's not as big as it seems, & so
I long to just knock on it, yet
we both made choices we can't forget~

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this for my mom,
who i haven't seen for 17 years or so...so close, but still so far...please pray for God to open the door for us, somehow~
