TO MY AUNT KHALAJAN

*The word "Khalajan" means maternal aunt and *Jaan" is a Urdu term meaning life.
*BETA: Meaning son in Urdu.
My maternal aunt Shamsia holds a special place in my heart, mind, soul and life. She was very fond of me and inculcated in me the rare virtues of respecting elders, loving the young, caring for all human beings and always being sincere. She breathed her last on April the 13th, 2001. These lines were inspired almost instantly.

TO NOOR JAHAN

Noor Jahan, the famous singer of the subcontinent, also famous as the "Melody Queen" died, after a long and protracted illness in December, 2000. She ruled over the India-Pakistan world of music with her melodious voice for more six decades. She passed away on the 27th of the Islamic month of Ramadan in Karachi. These lines were an inspired very soon after the news of her death.
