Ever Changing Eyes

Thinking on the dew of a just-born day, what today seems so vibrant, tomorrow grey?
For now the shapes they bend into figures and ornaments wrapping and surrounding me like their purpose is only to supply a place where new smiles on my face can grow. The colors, they twist and crackle, they sparkle and gleam, jumping for point to place dancing, dipping and diving all around sparking flames of brilliance not unlike the ones prayer’s followers hope to unite with.
How long can this continue on before these colors, these shapes, this myriad of dreamscapes turn from twists and bends to writhing and seizing. The colors glowing so brightly they block out the timid beauty of the sun, the tender calling of the ocean’s decadent rainbow. The shapes, like the leaves of fall, stumble and crack against the wind of time, dying out and falling just short of another beautiful cycle.
Perhaps though, in this life’s bliss less downfall, in it’s breaking and fading apart, a new ending will become far away; objects forming worlds as the tumble together from their end to an elegant new beginning. The bright whites and gleaming colors collapsing into each other so as to splinter and fracture, molding and forming just to show it’s not how bright they were, it’s how well they responded to each other. It’s not how the shapes fell together, but how with dignity they fall apart. It’s not that the sun was gone, it’s just that sometimes the singing and dancing make for a better view…

THE "L" WORD

THE "L" WORD
Edward Iacona

At one time she said, "I love you!”
But not now the way her life leans.
She no longer wants to say that phrase;
Wondering what it really means.

"Love" is only the English word that's
Felt the same in every nation.
She may be bi-lingual but for her,
This word loses in the translation.

Though this word has hurt us both,
Neither she nor I disdain it.
So, in trying to lay aside her fears
I'll endeavor to explain it.

For the word "love" most writers,
Do not seem to lack words
But, I think I can examine it
By looking at it backwards.

Spelled in reverse it's "evol" and
No matter what book you bring
If you search for the definition,
It doesn't mean anything.

But if you add two letters
Specifically "V" and "E"
It will now spell "evolve",
Important in being a "we".

To evolve is a great concept
As love rises in the caring heart
But, here is the main caveat
To grow together and never apart.

More than some fancy word play,
It’s a recipe clear and true
That the menu of life can change if
The ingredients are the right two.

When you look at "love" in the mirror it can take on a deeper meaning.

Life is Not a Journey

I take a step back
From all that I see
I stop thinking
Of things affecting me insignificantly

Towards the glowing moon
And the foreign mist
I turn my gaze

Of the unknown future and mystical past
I reminisce
How I have come to be
A piece of this wonderful world

One lifetime of chances
I have to behold all the earth's secrets
I cannot go wrong!
For all is beauty

This life is not a journey
It is, to all and everything...

The Journey

Silence

Ugonna Wachuku

There's grave silence

accross the earth seen.

Hidden hearts preach in

cities for growth, for

social justice, for

dying humankind's

well-being globally,

for fertile farmlands

and humane harvest.

Inequality blooms!

Silence! You don't

count!

Church bells are silently

ringing at the distance.

Temple bells are also

ringing. And Mosque

calls mingle with these

ringing bells alive.

I can hear the women
and men singing. I hear

humankind singing:
I can hear you from
Essertines. I can hear

you from Nigeria!

I can hear you from

Mexico! I can hear

you from these United

I can hear your voice

Yet, you are so far

But with the clustered
brilliance of your waving

silence.

At the warmth of the
evening sun, you will
smile in silence. I too
will watch in silence.

Night shall come with
golden lamps to give
you hope and unforgotten
love with cherishment;
to give you the silence
of yearning hearts walking
the lush landscape of my

That loving mutness in
sweet sad silence seen

across our breathing

Awakening

Ugonna Wachuku

Nothing else but you moves
my soul through life and
clouds of beauty and joy.

When the story of my life
is told, let your hand of
the spirit remember my
yearning soul.

Let your song of the spirit
build torches of hope and
kindness to light the path
which others like me will
follow.

Let your beauty and love
awaken hidden gifts and
treasures in my life.

And when all the sheaves
are brought in, let humanity
know that the greatest gift
you gave me was, is and will
ever be the awakening of my
deepest soul for the march
through heaven's gate. All
the way to calvary, you
awakened eternity for my
soul!
