Hope

Sing me a Song

Ugonna Wachuku

That the moon may shine;
that the stars may bloom;

that flowers may blossom;
that birds may sing:

Sing me a song.
Sing me a song from
the depths of the sea.

Sing me a song from
the love in your heart.

Sing me a song from
the beauty that is you.
Let me feel the beat
of your heart at noon
when the sun is high
on the horizon.

Let me be near you
and in you for the
love that we share;
for the care you
uphold.

Let me not depart
from your presence.

Let the smiling stars
be there to welcome us
at the beginning -
from lush, inspiring
landscapes and meadow
sea shores.

Let humanity learn
from the love within
our love. Let angellic
hands play this music
of the bountiful soul
from generation to
generation.

Just sing me a song.
And let me be who
I am because I too
will sing you a song
from my deep soul;
and let you be who
you are!

The Road

Ugonna Wachuku

You are the road.
I am the seeker.
Then, show me
the way.

You are the river.
I am the boat.
Then, float me to
the head-waters.

You are the wind.
I am the eagle.
Then, glide me to
towering clouds and
unseen mountain tops.

You are the rain.
I am the flower.
Then, give me water
to grow.

You are the flower.
I am the butterfly.
Then let me touch
your ripe, blue bud
with a kiss.

You are the tree.
I am humankind.
Then, show me how
to climb.

Remember, you are the
road. I am the seeker.
Then show me the way.

You are angel.
Then show me heaven.
Yet, you are the road.
I am the simple seeker.

Dear Ugonna,  again, this poem brings me truth and spiritual pleasure. "You are the road, I am the seeker" - how wonderfully stated! Your analogies are drawn from the depth and simplicity of nature's beauty to make the reader enlightened by this path of knowledge. This verse fills me with deep peace and renewed hope. Thank you, Wendy

A lovely poem, Ugonna!  You illustrate so clearly how interdependent the various aspects of life are upon one another. We are always searching for answers, and so many of them lie in nature. Beautiful words!

Make Me Whole

Ugonna Wachuku

The day drags on slowly.
But there are gardens and
flowers to be planted.

There are seeds to be
sown for the harvest.
There are shadows and
dreams to be seen.

There are tears to be
shed; and smiles to be
given on the threshold
of a new beginning.

In my soul;
in the deeper me;
far from the world
and heart that you
know in me, lies that
yawning yearning to
live; to drink from
your life-giving well.

With tears and pleas;
with a broken heart and
shattered dreams, I state
my pain. I shed tears.

I share my dreams
with you; my longings.
I bring my broken pieces
to you; the Potter's
Hands.

When, at last, I find
my narrow way to that
eternal abode of your
loving grace, I will
fall flat; and my only
plea will be that you
make me whole.

Awakening

Ugonna Wachuku

Nothing else but you moves
my soul through life and
clouds of beauty and joy.

When the story of my life
is told, let your hand of
the spirit remember my
yearning soul.

Let your song of the spirit
build torches of hope and
kindness to light the path
which others like me will
follow.

Let your beauty and love
awaken hidden gifts and
treasures in my life.

And when all the sheaves
are brought in, let humanity
know that the greatest gift
you gave me was, is and will
ever be the awakening of my
deepest soul for the march
through heaven's gate. All
the way to calvary, you
awakened eternity for my
soul!

Beautiful One

Ugonna Wachuku

When silent drums speak;
when silent hearts beat;
when silent birds sing'
I'll listen. I'll be there.

I'll listen because I am
on a journey through life.
I am on a journey through
green hills and valleys.

Through the dark, weary
night, dawn shall meet
me with caring embrace
and soothing smile.

I must walk on; towards
this land of hope and
new love amongst

humankind.

On this inspiring land,
I'll tell uplifting stories

of this journey from

my deep heart.

I'll tell you why the

tortoise has lines

on his hard back.
I'll tell you why

humankind must

love one another.

I'll tell you wonderful
stories for the survival
of humankind and our

enchanting earth

home.

I'll kiss you welcome
and take you to that
lofty land of my being
where dews from

heaven refresh my

day.

I'll make you sweet
smelling egusi soup.
You will love it.

And when you are

done, I know you'll

Blue Waterfalls

Ugonna Wachuku

Slowly, whistling winds and waves
embrace my soul on this voyage to
new reality.

Like a river, I follow my course
through beckoning landscapes and
simple seas.

Through moonlit forests of home
and beauty, I walk to the beat
from nature's heart.
There is silence in the air.
There is a song in my heart.
There is unfolding desire to
be all that I must be to you
and to humanity.

Down river roads and pathways,
I follow your footprints to
mountain tops where bald eagles
teach eaglets the mystery of
calmly soaring through life.

From high grounds and moving
landscapes on peaceful sea shores
hidden within you, the story unfolds.
From mountain tops of glory and
beauty, you call me to fish and
dine with caring angels.
There will be yet
another voyage.

When, finally, we arrive at the
headwaters, there will be blue
waterfalls and glad dolphins to
welcome you and me.

These blue waterfalls will be
our compass for the journey
ahead. Smiles and songs will
flower us to bountiful life.
Waterfalls of blue will define
our love for humanity!

And when I meet the coming,
new morning of hope and inspiration,
I will shed tears because your loving
blue waterfalls will be
my caring companion
for life!

A most beautiful piece of poetry. I sense the underlying tones of simplicity with a vivid journey to a long lost part of what was once common to all the peoples of this earth. A small touch of paradise. Flows well and tells a story that nature has been telling us for generations. I am very impressed and will be reading more of your works.  I feel that you have a natural talent in telling us what to look for in our daily lives. A piece well away from the humdrums of normality. This poem is absolutely beautiful. You walk me through this journey while making my emotions raw with love, curiously, wonder. I felt as though I was away from today and stepping into a clensing when I let go of dirty thoughts, feelings, notions to be be more than cleansed, but freed. If that wasn't enough you let me have one person to go along with me. I loved to have the allowance of company because it allowed me to share myself and a world to love. Thanks for the wonderful read.

Hold the Night

Ugonna Wachuku

Hold the night. Hold my love.

Hold my dreams for mankind.

Hold my fears tonight. Keep

the fleeing night. Keep my

care.

See my mood. Hold the night,

beautiful one. Please, hold

the fleeting night.

Don't let this night walk

away in the dark. Hold the

night.

Hold my dreams for

all humankind and our dying

environment. Hold the night,

beautiful one.

Cape of Good Hope darling,

let it be the night of a

bountiful new dawn for you

and for me, for everyone

across the planet, for our

bleeding beautiful blue earth.

Hold the night, I beg of you.

Tell me you will hold the night

till dawn.

Please, tell me you will

hold this love of mine till

the night sings of a refreshing,

healing, new morning for humankind.

Please, Cape of Good Nomathemba

darling, hold my uplifting care

till the fleeing night smiles

into heaven's blessed morning.

Just hold the night!

Hold this night!

Please, hold the night,

Cape of Good Hope lady!

The night of the

spirit's deep.

Take My Love

Ugonna Wachuku

When all is said and lived;

when beauty and joy are

planted in your earth-heart;

when the last royal roses

come to you, remember, I

will always be there for

you through pain, agony

and tears.

And handsome heaven's

brilliance will be your

light through dark waters.

Day shall be your companion

through sun-lit pathways

of hope, love and new

life.

In my soul, caring streams

and rivers will rise on this

trying, painful journey

through life.

Windful waterfalls will kiss

me for a new kind of hope in

love and beauty enchanting.

Just remember, I will always

be there for you. Darling, you

can gladly count on me to till

the land and work the farm

through every pain and

agony.

I will tend the garden and

bring you roses and tullips

of blue and yellow.

So, always remember,

there will be no if.

I'll listen and care.

I'll uphold you to

outlive every terror

and pain with love

and wisdom.

You can always count on heaven

to bloom my heart anew each day.

Even when the spirit is weak, I

will ever remember that you are

there. Surely, darling, I will.

Take my love when you will.

And remember, through this

pain, through this agony,

I will ever

be there,

Let Me Be

Ugonna Wachuku

Let me be gone

now ... Silence!

Silence of the

grave ...

Life on this

enchanting

earth home!

Humankind with

heartless homes:

Fading moments of my
awakening...

I walk through unknown

pathways and river banks.

The mind in me is still;
yet wandering through
uncharted landscapes
and meadow sea shores.

This new day, I stare into
the clouds, hoping, wishing,
wondering if you'll let me be.

At night, I watch your stars
and moon; waiting, hoping.

Fading moments of my
awakening...

My journey has been a long
one. I have waited so long
in the eyes of human
recokoning.

I really keep wondering
whether you'll let me be.

Fading moments of my
yawning awakening...

My soul is heavy ladden.
My spirit reaches out;
searching to find some
meaning to this desolation
on flourishing farmlands
of abundance and beauty.

Will you finally let me be
who or what I am meant to be?
Because, now, this day, there
is a joyful pain in my soul.

Will I be? Will I be?
Good Lord, I am still
waiting on you; while

still striving, asking,

seeking, knocking on

heaven's door of your

deeply compassionate

heart. I am hopefully

still waiting: "do not
pass me by!"

Let me not be weary.
Let me soar and mount
on wonderful wings like
your eagle of my essence.
Just let me be who I am

created to be, abidingly:
I humbly plead!

Humankind with

heartless homes:

Fading moments of my
yawning awakening...

My soul is heavy ladden.
"Do not pass me by."

Give me your

mustard seed
faith. Let me

not be weary.

Let me go
