1. The way you quote your favorite shows

2. The way you sing under your breath

3. The way you roll your eyes at me

4. The way you look when you wear your glasses

5. The way you smell

6. The way you think you're always right

7. The way you're right most of the time, even when I don't want to admit it.

8. The way your eyes scrunch up when you laugh

9. The way you make lists for everything

10. The shape of your nose

11. The way you argue against me, even when I agree with you

12. The way you don't laugh at any of my jokes

13. The way you say shoes

14. The way you try to hold back your smile when I say something stupid

15. The way you dance

16. The way you make me happy every time I talk to you

17. The way I want to make you happy, whenever you're hurt

18. The way you're the only one I want to talk to…ever

19. The way I can't get you out of my head

20. The way everything I do, reminds me of you.

21. The way I fall for you more and more each day.

no regrets

who cares if there

are flowers on my corpse

if I'm dead?

if love is your intent

then bring me

some good memories

and things you learned

to make your life easier

and more worth living.

wrap it up in a rusted coffee can

from some dark alley where babies lie in dumpsters

and place it somewhere all can see and be comforted

that someone thought about them, and cared

about why their lives ended, and tried to understand

not to punish, but to prevent it.

give me life in my death,

and not sorrow for

what you forgot to do

or not do, to prevent

yourself from being hurt

on the day I leave here.

funerals are for the ones who are left here,

because the only thing I intend

to leave you after material possessions

are divied out,

is the same thing since the day

I first looked in your eyes,

the gratitude for having shared moments together.

we have all been dying since the day we were born,

and if we arrive at our final resting place in peace,

and not at the hands of violence,

then we have been granted more than enough

to say we have been blessed.

I spend my days now thinking what a beautiful soul you are.

Latent Prince

Part I of II

This is the story of Larry Joe Prince

And the way Arizona stole his innocence.

It is written with hope that there may come a day

When a wise judge will grant him his moment to say

All the things so conveniently left out of court,

Made American “justice” look more like a sport,

With a high-priced attorney that didn’t think clear,

And the false testimony of one with much fear,

And the state prosecute thought “I’ll surely reach fame”,

He said, “Hell, I don’t care who the state wants to blame,

It’s a paycheck to me; I don’t care about truths,

It’s my ego I feed, I’m a low lying sleuth!!”

So they all drew their “guns” on that guy Mr. Prince,

Absolutely no shred of secure evidence,

They proceeded to send him to death row to sit,

For the murder of one that he did not commit,

And the biggest and worst sin of all that was done,

Was the way that the people held on to their “guns”,

They embraced all the lies to evade what was clear,

As revenge prevailed justice with each little tear,

And for those in the grave who just watch from above,

With no longer a voice to teach them that real love,

Is not proven by putting the blame on a man,

Just because he is there….cause the courts and you can,

See the proof of one’s love speaks out so very clear,

Even after the grave when one’s body’s not here,

You will hear their soul cry, and you’ll then know for sure,

If they’re resting in peace or they’re haunted some more.

There are families that hide from life’s reality,

The dead man in this case begs you hear his soul’s plea,

Make amends for the errors you’ve made in the past,

And put down all those stones, and those already cast,

If this dead man could speak he’d have something to say,

Of the circus that ran through the courtroom that day,

And if not for the dead man then do it for you,

Cause we all have to answer to God what is true,

Larry Prince knows he’s clear and he wins either way,

Cause he’s INNOCENT judge, the state’s in disarray.

So please read all with care on this day we implore,

Please don’t look at this life as a game where you score,

It’s integrity that is of stake in this court,

And it’s not mine or yours it’s this country’s that’s short

Of a quality no longer active today,

If it dies, it’s the lives of our loved one’s…they’ll pay.

Take your time, read it all, and be true to your heart,

And we’ll all pray it’s not too late for a new start.

Part II of II

They all loved cocaine but they hid it from Dad,

He just couldn’t believe that his kids could be “bad”,

So his eyes he did close, and they stayed tightly shut,

While his best offspring died with that stuff in his gut,

And they said, “It was murder”, and placed the blame there,

Yes, it’s true ‘bout that bullet and blood in his hair,

And the roots of that crime have been hidden so well,

By the real guilty ones with the lies they did tell,

For those self-righteous ones that just stared and stood by,

And condoned this deceit without batting an eye,

For the cowards that watched as the killers went free,

Be aware this could happen to you or to me,

And your sons or your daughters could one day be led

To a place where they wish they would rather be dead,

So now don’t be afraid to let truths in your ears

When your children are hurting with eyes full of tears,

Don’t you cower or shudder, don’t whine and don’t wince,

And remember the story of Larry Joe Prince.

The story of how justice can go awry when emotions rule instead of justice ruling.

mass segregation

this heinous monstrosity of segregation,

that drains the blood, sweat, and tears

from generations of poor, illiterate, and downtrodden,

rapist of family values, and murderer

of productivity and hard working hands,

the dream of 5 year old boys whose aspirations

of being like daddy wind him up on a dime bag street corner,

grappling frazzled bits and pieces,

the remnants of a worn out dream,

passed down through a shackled and indoctrinated

system of beliefs twisted by the hands of greedy governments,

and corporate schemes that trade lives for money.

this heinous monstrosity of segregation,

convincing mothers they are better off alienated

from their children,

and that a father's life for his son or daughter

is worth nothing more than three meals and a cot,

a place to rot, and a sacred book of scripture only given

to wash the sins of those hands that profit

from the years of ones held captive and sometimes murdered

for crimes unworthy of the time,

hours and years robbed from innocent loved ones

who pay the burden of the brainless zombies

taking pride in their jobs that torture the downtrodden.of societies

in every nation.

this the system we take pride in,

that we divide in,

husband from wife, father from son,

left with no remaining choice in the end,

but to sever all ties completely from everyone,

draining any scintilla of scraps

from the family 'till of loving plenty',

no leftovers from the dinnertime table of togetherness

savored for a child in need of

what it means to awaken to the sound of unity,

a now lost and forgotten concept taught only

in lieu of a desire for mass destruction and for-profit policing

of innocent citizens,

where are the people who say they care about the children?

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was inspired by the following article about the ongoing plight of prisoners for the right to be individual, and not belong to any gang.

Innocence is pure

Never such innocence,

Never so pure,
The crimson is passion,
You are real.
No surface needed,
For we are what we are, underneath,
Scratching beneath shows weakness?
He made us to be grateful,
All we do is sin.

My Alibi

begins in a small corridor-like
Dim lighting-
Swinging lanterns-
Their movements-

Blaring speakers.
Echoes through the halls.
Pictures of surrealist figures-
Dream-like emotionless pigments.

Speculation. My crime?
A murderer of love.
Labeled as a heart breaker.
Destroyer of faith-
Sang about-
Radio blues.
A cancer-
Spread and penetrates the hearts of
the naive.
Haunts the impressionable.
Hated amongst the mass.

The jury-
Shattered remains of loveless relationships.
A parade of emotionless shadows.
In love alone-
Water soaked cheeks-
Wrinkle as the sebum washes off their epidermis.
Tear stained.
Eyes dipped in burgundy molted lava.
They stare in disappointment.
Belligerent thoughts-
As they convict-
Hate me.

Recall the love.
His eyes brighten-
When I was near.
He held my hand.
So intense.
Mentally swooning.
My name adorned his.

I was the cause of his demise.
The reason why tears formed in his eyes.
I left-
He trembled.
Blood shed.
A lifeless caucus.
Swimming in a cesspool.
Belligerent rampages.
The once blue eyes that glittered in the sunlight.

In need of an alibi-
Looking to the ceiling-
in order to maintain a lie.
Exhausting every possible conclusion.
Clenching my fist-
"I wish he didn't exist."
As the courtroom throw their hands in the air.
"He stuck to me like glue-
a budding rose-
hands of a beggar."
He stared-
Eyes like daggers
As I continued.
"Depended like a child-
Emotions of a juvenile-
So close that he shared my air."

Chairs shifted.
My alibi?
Merely a confession.
My looks of deprivation-
Just a symptom of my syndrome-
A heart breaker.
As the jury comes in
they tell me I'm guilty for my sins.
My sentence?
"How long will it take to mend his broken heart?"
As he utters-
" A life time."
Ice cold hand cuffs-

In a 12X12 room-
No sunlight-
No contact-
No emotions.
Left to think about my deeds-
As the reminders of his love-
pours downs my pale grey walls.
Lost and filled with self pity.
My punishment?
Feel the sorrow the heart broken.

The Reasons

The blinding-

blaring headlights in the window- that was the reason
The reason why I broke away from your embrace
Why I smeared the lipstick stains from my face-
Slammed my finger to your lips-
Wishing you didn't exist.
The reason why I whispered and pleaded for your silence.
For this scene soon turn violent-
As she parks the car.

The way she gathers my sons-
Hand to hand, stroking their blushing cheeks; light kisses upon their foreheads-

reassurance of unity-
That was the reason.
The reason why I pushed you to the floor-
Regretting our conversations -
You weren't worth the humiliation as you continue to grab for my attention.

The age progressing photos
Of my children shattered on the dwellings.

The eyes of my offspring-

their hands, ears, lungs, hearts and the oxygen they breathe- these are the reasons.
The reason why I warned you to leave before my commitment entered our abode.
You start to resist as I ball up my fist-
Tension and silence result into violence.
I strike you once.
Erasing all of the broken promises- discrete gestures.
Subtle smiles.
Faint touches.
Reluctant stares.
Your screams-
Only make me angry.
"I told you to shut up."
As I grasp your neck.

Her smile as she caresses the gentle heads of my children.
The way she grabbed my hand while saying her vows.

That stare she gives when waking up by my side. That twinkle.
That twinkle is the reason.
The reason why I didn't stop when you gasped for air.
The realization that she might leave-
Tighten my grip.
The footsteps of my children- light but pounding-
Mirror my heart beat.
Their little voices screaming my name-
The reason why-
The reason why you'll never be found.
A mistress that I've had my all.
Just a memory.
Never to be thought of again.
As I enjoy my reasons-
The reasons why you no longer exist.

Wink and a Smile

Your eyes embody the truth-
As your words are naught.
Screaming out are your pupils
Periwinkle in hue. Multiple dimensions.
Cradle your tears
Sweet wallowing trail down-
Surround the mouth that deceives;
Dissolve and disappear into your soft fibbing lips.

Imagination of the spectacular
As thy tales evolve.
Doth not feel pity?
Mayhap not!
But your eyes mirror your soul.
The eyes-
For your eyes strung my heart strings.
Blinded me and guided me-
To a cesspool of deception.

Your eyes, my love.
Are the reasons for my adoration.
Possess the innocence-that might be
As your fiction is merely a representation of your jaded thoughts and broken swears.
You hide behind these curtains-
But fall to the ground.
Just look at what you've become.
Me, a victim of your defective love.

Golden engraved lashes.
Cursive lullabies spiral around each stem-
Complement your pearl-like cornea.
Hold your powder blue iris-
Your cloudy crystals-
Infused with majestic peaks and meadows.
The pupil-
Blackened and sees all.
Express novels of nonfiction.
Blink without suspicion.
For the truth is the only language known.

Please don't speak-
Thy eyes tell it all.
They adorn yet warn-
As your voice destroys.
A babbling brook of devastation
Synthetic waves crash into my burgundy vital muscle-
Beating as your words twist thorns-penetrate-
And sparkle won't my naive DNA.
Cold- red cells glaze to grey- Shriveled and stricken to dots.
1,2,3,4,5- alive no longer my amour.
For they have won.
An empty case- hypnotized by two black eyes.
Mislead by words of deceit.

Tension grows.
Just think of my feelings-
Before you mutter once more.
Aware of your tricks.
Still you're the one I'll always pick-
As your lies dig daggers into my spine.
For as long as your eyes exist- you're the one I'll miss.
Never to be deceived by your eyes.

Girl after a girl: Events unforgettable

Part I

1) With a ‘to’ and a ‘fro’ in her throat,

something she did note,

as on a piece of paper, she wrote

"I can't like you, for you don't know -

I got to go away - to which I can't say No."

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

2) With her legs beside me, so stiff

and -to save me- her hands with great mischief,

she conveys to the punishment chief -

"Oh Ma'am? How can he be guilty?

As this is his first moment to my proximity!"

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

3) With all her teeth and gums out

and her tiny eyes so stout,

she beckons me with a shout -

"Go! I won't talk anymore to you.

How much I am hurt, you never knew."

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

4) With real tears in her eyes

and five of her fingers glued to rice,

maybe yes, twice - she cries -

"How would you know how much I moan!

For, never you, I am disturbed alone."

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

5) With a big grin at my face,

but with a big cry, the very next phase,

at my back this time, she says -

"He wouldn't have really scolded me,

If, even little, he had ever read me."

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

6) With a rise in all her gaze over the book,

when asked for her verses, she gave me an eerie look.

Soon, she wrote for me; Almost a month it took! -

"Though difficult, try to remember me

for, perhaps many for you, though you're alone for me."

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

From a girl, only another girl keeps one away,

but not from past nor future, for there're many more girls, I say.

An event with a girl can give a great kick start

that can lead anyone, till many suns set.

Memories of brain written from heart -

a few of many incidents I could not forget!

Part II

7) With drops falling down as she bends

her neck, in some reunion -she attends

after a year- she tells our friends -

Long back, He stopped talking to me.

Neither a hello nor a glance – as if I’m his enemy.

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

8) With a smile -she leaves the lab- too fake one

and with swollen eyes -returns in- pointing none.

Then, a message leaves her, following the sun -

A friend can be anything, but not a sister!

So, please don’t ever call me so, you mister!

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

9) With good red expressions – contorted,

while issues were being sorted

out about my interest in her, her words parted –

Oh, now please stop it! I want no fight.

I understand it and it’s completely alright!

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

10) With her ideas so optimistic,

though actions far realistic,

she typed something very mystic -

Had you worked, excellence of now would have been average

Anyways, any failure to be understood needs courage.

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

11) With her face full of joy and hope

and beliefs no less than some pope,

she always replies, to my theory of mortality, with nope -

The word End, with someone can also be Never,

for the person may know words like Forever.

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

12) With a look so cheerless, that can shrink

one’s heart -though sometimes so cheerful that can kink

it’s beat- she said or typed - I think -

Really miss you as I sometimes also saw my ex in you.

You played big part in my life, though days were very few.

Well, every girl is so so pretty.

Lies apart, any girl can make your day,

no matter whether you are a guy, girl or a gay

This is a small tribute to a small part

of all the girls I met.

Memories of brain written from heart -

a few of the incidents I could never forget!

Author's Notes/Comments:

A saga written as a ode about incidents revolving in mind, involving a few of the girls I met. Their sounds still ring in my head!
