family

rachael

scattered shreds of paper

litter the bedroom floor

the walls shake with laughter

as they have so many times before

the stereo plays something

to which we both can sing along

thoughts and secrets are exchanged

and no-one's right or wrong

you are so much like me

and yet you're so like you

i'm glad it's more than marriage

that makes you act the way you do

i believe the term is in-law

but that's not where it ends

the truth is we're truly sisters

and more important, friends.

Author's Notes/Comments:

alirhgt, rachael, this is cheesy... but this type of poem always has to be! i mean every word, though. thanks for being there!

Working With The Anger

She builds sancastles out of the ruins of her life.

Fills the moats with blood tears.

She molds

anger

betrayal

and misery

into one solid piece.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Just a few deep thoughts...

My Father

My father,

Ashes drifting down a stream,

A waterfall,

Just like his downfall,

I can never visit you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

My father died May of 1997. My mother and a friend of his took us to a waterfall up in the mountains near our home in Pasadena. My little brother released his ashes in the pool of water, while the current slowly took my father down stream.... There is a bottling company that bottles it's water and distributes it from Pasadena. You're probably drinking my dad right now....

Moms Poem

Copyright 6/26/00

Half a century has past since you gave me life

And nurtured me through hard times and strife.

Each day, each week, each month a miracle

As the doctors believed I wouldn't make it still.

I remember the garage apartment and milk bottles too

And how we played with my train me and you.

How we worked to get the house clean

So we could go shopping...how keen.

Some times when I was older and was getting along fine

We would grab our fishing poles and go wet a line.

You did it alone and most never sees

How much work you put into me.

It has been a long time and is over due

That I write this poem and letter to you.

I love you mom that's all I can say

To the one who carries me to this day.

You are always there for a prayer to tend

For this kid, or that kid, or even a friend.

The lord has kept us all to this day

And I pray he takes us in when we are called away.

Thanks mom for being there

Helping me guiding me...showed you care.

Now that I am old and grown

I am telling now what I have always known.

You are the best

From east to west.

A finer person can't be had

Including, rest his sole, dad.

Thank  you for all you gave

For all of us whose souls you saved.

I wish we could be ever near

So these heart felt thanks you could hear.

TYLER

YOU ARE THE SPARK GIVEN TO US BY GOD.

YOUR SMILE, THAT OF AN ANGEL ON EARTH.

I HAVE YOUR PICTURE RIGHT ABOVE MY MONITOR,

RECEIVING PEACE FROM THE ANGEL NEPHEW OF MINE.

YOU ARE THE SWEETEST LITTLE ONE,

PLAYING WITH US LIKE A KITTEN DOES.

MAKING IT HARD TO EVER HAVE TO TELL YOU NO.

YOU HAVE EYES THAT SHINE LIKE JEWELS IN A CROWN.

YOUR WAY OF SHARING THE LOVE YOU HAVE,

SUGAR LIPS FROM YOU, LIKE THE KISS FROM THE CANDY PRINCESS.

TO HEAR YOU SAY "I LOVE YOU AUNT NEE'"

CAN BRING THIS OLD WOMAN TO HER KNEES.

NOW YOU HAVE TO SHARE YOUR STAGE WITH OTHERS.

IDENTICAL BEAMS OF LIGHT THAT RADIATE

FROM LOUISIANA TO CALIFORNIA.

I CAN FEEL IT IN MY HEART.

Author's Notes/Comments:

For Ethan

With those big beautiful eyes,

The look of confusion and wonder,

With your mother's ways,

And your father's face,

Do you know how much I love you?

The Perfect Thyroid

mom told us

and shock

slapped me

Never heard of it

didn't even know

what a thyroid was?

"It's butterfly shaped" she said

"and there's two in your neck"

She didn't look like the people I knew with

Cancer

She didn't lose her hair or get really sick

I remember, in the hospital,

when I went to visit her

I wasn't allowed in her room

because it would be a hazard

to Me

they took both her thyroid glands

tired

that's all she was

Taking her thyroid medication

she wishes

for The Perfect Thyroid

Author's Notes/Comments:

in an english class we got a title and had to form a poem from it. true story though.

HIS FATHERS CHILD

I just received new photos of my nephew

first thing out of my mouth, Oh My God,

he is truly his fathers child.

The face of a angel, the personalty of a star

your light shows in your face, I can see those little wheels turn,

always thinking of the next gag to make us all laugh.

You stand there with that smile so sweet,

little rubber boots and those shades from where,

You are a clown when we need it,I really like it that way.

I hate that I miss these times,

with you growing up so fast,

you are my heart and soul,

may your life be problem free.

When times get bad, and I know they will,

I can look to these pictures to bring comfort,

to one that lives so far away, I am your aunt Nee'

and you are my little Tyler man,

You are so much like you father,

there is nothing missing here,

you are just the same as he,

may your gift live on.

Author's Notes/Comments:

just something that came to me when I looked at the new pics of my nephew.... he is such a kick.... Renee'

Star

A stars light will never die

and neither will our friendship

Like a star when your lost

Just look to me and I will guide the way

Like a star when you are lonely

Just look at me and know you are never alone

And you are my star also

your beauty, wisdom, and guidance amazes me

Although just a plain old star to everyone else

your unique and special to me!
