Sometimes: "Darkness eats the echoes." The poet who made the sound that reverberated and vanished is still vibrant and making noise yet. Where'd ya go? . Time to write again. If you plant a seed under a filling, will one reap plaque and calcium fruit? Just wondering? :D

Starward commented on: In the Church of Ordinary Miracles by patriciajj 3 days 4 hours ago
The spiritual summit of this: The spiritual summit of this poem begins with the phrase "and nothing to fear," and running on to the end.  THe whole poem is a powerful reading experience, but it kicks into high gear at "nothing to fear."  From that point, you show us how to become a "practicing immortal on currents of light," where you give us the intersection of the spiritual and the cosmic, in your always inimitable verbiage, in the always assured poise and enthusiasm of your words.  From that "diamond" spot of your perspective, you gives us a compact epic of hope and joy, a great crescendo of the sounds of strings and celesta which easily subdues and subjects the blare and glare of the tarnished brass trumpet that has caused so much cacophony lately (and I am sure you know who I mean).

Thank you.  My parents had a: Thank you.  My parents had a distinct knack for giving a gift with one hand, while taking something away with the other; or of placing such restrictions on the gift that the fun was sapped out of it.  For example, in 1967 they gave me a small, very amateurish telescope due to my intense interest---which they called, pejoratively, an obsession---with astronomy.  A crate of astronomy magazines from the fifties, which had been given me by a family friend, vanished without explanation.  Also, the telescope was only available for me to use on summer evenings, and never past my assigned bedtime of 9pm.  Not much to see in the summer sky at that time.   The same with sending me to college:  they had spend the whole summer trying to disrupt and put an end to the most perfect friendship I had ever experienced, because they feared what neighbors and relatives might think.  They reminded me constantly that going to college, a dorm school a good hour away from my home, would disrupt that friendship, and they gloated over that fact.
