Of course he turned his braggart's tale to run,

but why not just forgive his shrill-shrieked strife---

he caused?  It cannot be the worst that he has done

in an obstructed and occluded life

that only can be self-appreciated;

but by most who have known him, soundly hated.

Antonio is a character, a most unscrupulous betrayer, in William Shakespeare's play, The Tempest.  I hope I have not infringed Old Man Shakespeare's copyrights by borrowing the character for this metaphor.
