The Tarnished Brass Of A Trumpet

So many monographs on our future's bookshelf,

will testify how much that man was soundly hated;

how unprepared he was, and undereducated;

that salesmanship is not the best experience

(where hotel towers and country clubs do not provide

the kind of leadership and savvy common sense

that real decisiveness demands as its sole guide).

To none of that, while at the top, our man aspired;

so after all the votes were counted, came this knowledge:

the people's will is not trumped at Electoral College;

and our society has said, clearly, YOU'RE FIRED.

Admit though, that at least one has appreciated

his efforts, and his sung his praise---never belated---

the constant handclap that he always gives himself.
