The Only Political Poems I Will Write At This Time, 3

Fair readings of our recent history

prove---that almost any cash-wealthy jerk

can by himself a win in our election.
But now, one of them well deserves rejection
from every voter who enters a poll
(who wants someone who, long since, sold his soul?);

Look to the past of Deutschland---Germany---
Hitler repaired their smashed economy

and put all the seig-hieling Volk to work.

We see, in his triumph, what Deutschland lost
as he lit ovens for the Holocaust
and to avenge all of Deutschland's old scores
he started the worst of all this world's wars.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Not quite a sonnet, because neither of the two agitators alluded to in the poem deserves any kind of sonnet.
