To An Old DayCare Attendant

So long retired from serving in a "downhome" "day care,"
you never can stop shouting in "strict teacher" mode.
Time stifled your bark; after that, you croak like a toad,
even when you try to confront the Lord in prayer.
You cannot distinguish between mere life, and the job:
you are an obstinate, recalcitrant, bung-scraping cob.
