Confession of Death

Folder:
2007

Garden’s gate thrown open wide
Welcomes all who would come.
Fragrance of rainbow flowers,
Across the meadow lazily drift.
Healing waters of fountain,
Kissed with the delicate touch
Of angel’s breath shiver.
Whole of life unshakenably secure,
Caressed gently by sun’s warmth.
All creatures with hearts smiling
As they play in the curtain of blue.
Even heaven was jealous.

Then he came…...

Disguised as a holy man
In a priestly position
One called Daddy.
But the invisible revealed colors true.
Odors, stench, venomous
Yellow sulphuric spittle
Burning scars into the soul,
Searing the heart and mind
With evil deeds.

Creature wearing indescribable ugly
With laughter and mocking voice
Throwing unmerciful taunts
Razor sharp talons piercing flesh
Licking lips, watching blood flow.
Sinister heart beating wildly
In anticipation of the
Fierce attack about to commence.

Then it was spoken….

Disguised as a holy confession.
Victim unaware...unprepared for the
Thrust of the poisoned phalanx
Into the depths of soul set afire.

"Therefore confess your sins to each other

so that you may be healed."

HA!

Demon of darkness,
Masquerades its deceptive holy act.
Delivers its lethal confession,
Out of pure selfishness
To satisfy and appease
Its filthy and guilty conscience…
                         ……...then flees…vanishes…
Yet, is ever present
Returning to its sacred disguise.
Words of death and destruction
Never again to be spoken.

Years of one score and five
Heart ripped from body,
Held in hands with confused vision
Bleeds out slowly
Life escapes.
Donned masks in which to hide
Become the tomb of living sacrifice.

Silent screams…
Burning anger for a time quelled
By a, so called, holy mission.

Violent rage hidden,
Bruises, cuts, bones broken
Masterfully cloaked.

      You did not see!
      You did not care!
      You did not help!

And where were you, God?

Abandoned...AGAIN…..

Demon vultures
Hovering above soul
Enjoying the wait for death’s rattle.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem attempts to tell of a most incredibly deep violation that was sustained and carried for more than twenty years.  The consequences were nearly deadly.
