Smelly Socks

Smelly Socks

Clark Steven Lupton

April 18, 2004

There was this guy

He thinks he really rocks

But in fact he is quite uncool

Because he has smelly socks

His feet really stink

He doesn't know, I fear

His feet are always sweating

And hasn't changed them in a year

At the end of the day

He puts them in the ref

And no one can tell him they stink

Because he's also deaf

And the next morning

When he eats his scrambled eggs

He doesn't find it peculiar

That they taste like the bottom of his legs

Then he puts them on

And walks around all day

"Man your socks smell!"

Is what the people say

But he doesn't know

Because he cannot hear

People far away suffer

And it's worse if they're near

Despite their reaction

He really thinks he's cool

And he doesn't realize

That he's a smelly fool

If you think that's bad

He doesn't really care

Not only does he not wash his socks

He also doesn't wash his under wear!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Again, I was in Starbucks, this time at Immigration in Manila waiting for my travelling papers, and I actually came up with 5 poems. You know, musicians (including Michael Jackson) say they get their music and lyrics from that universal source for inspiration. Although Smelly Socks isn't up in the level as We Are The World, I think that's the same source I got my idea from because I can't figure out what on Earth I'd be thinking about socks for a poem for!
