SNEAKY PEEP?

SNEAKY PEEP?

The torrential downpour subsided the summer,

Lasted for days and ended up in weeks;

The peaty brown substance rushed down the mountains,

Along with mud and silt, that roared down in tons.

Dried up grass that got run over by silt,

Started to sprout to stick out their blades;

Plains became bare as water receded,

And everyone bustled when the sun beamed out!

Rubbers and raincoats found their racks;

So funny it looked when I saw the soiled bunny!

The hound sped down and went for it,

But tripped down and slid down the slush!

Bogged down by it, so lazy, I felt; as

On land, water and air, each one had a hand;

They fetched their eats from where ever they could,

To provide me ‘food for thoughts’; as I would wish!

Nice and fine when everyone gains!

The torrid time is over, I reckon;

Oh! No! My mind said, “It’s yet to get over”

As your sneer is just a ‘Sneaky Peep’!

Look long to find your way that lies far ahead;

Beyond the mountains, valleys and the horizon;

The deep-blue sea is just not the limit;

Look beyond, as you have to go, a long way up!

‘The Sun and Rain’ forecasts your loss and gain!

‘The Fun and Frolic’ indicates your merry-making!

‘The Pain and Smile’ points at your suffering and happiness!

Oh, Man!  Don’t just sneak peak, but have a distant vision!

Short-sighted visions take you no far!

Your life is short but the journey is long!

Have some fore-sightedness to go that far;

To reach your destiny in the short span of life!

Author's Notes/Comments:

By basking on our present glory and enjoying at what we see and do we are going to keep ourselves passive. We got to look into the future with foresightedness and try to make use of the short span of life we have been given and make it worthwhile.

Very very deep sir

Very very deep sir !! I almost got drowned. Nicely written. Myopia is what comes from ignorance. Wisdom (not certificates) gives a clearer vision sir. Life is indeed too short Mr P Raj. Well written. Congratulations. Spare a thought for the U'Khand victims.
