i hear the train on the elevated tracks

just a couple blocks away

i know it's pretty quiet when i notice it

after all these years

how many people pass us by

we wonder what we'll find

we think we'll be alone

do we notice it at all



we fear the pain in the escalated pulse

with response of a 'no' blended

you know that concoction when you notice her

get out of town on the next ride

(the first morning ride)



i see the names on the bus station glass

loves come and loves that had left

and loves that met but not the ones who never glanced

that one day or three years

(than one day all these years)



how many people pass us by

we wonder what we'll find

we think we'll be alone

do we notice it at all

the odds are low but there's so many oppurtunities

and all we need is one to keep the smile and sanity
