Reading other people's poetry

Reading other People's poetry

does not make sense to me

to use an overwhelming

amount of metaphors and imagery

for the meaning of the poem

they'll most likely miss

and create their own

or even go off the beaten path

off of the nicely tarred cement

of the straight-forward arrangement

and end up by themselves, lost,

in rocky untraveled terrain

lost, in the true direction

of one line,

or the poem as a whole

like trying to find your way through

Beantown, if you've only lived in Presque Isle

Now I hope you know what I mean

and how I feel about

Reading other people's poetry
