ReContoured: She Muses The Life Of John Milton

Some think that Uncle John was a bit crazy,
and that his scholarship was rather hazy.
I must admit, his warped theology
was tainted by a spiteful heresy;
some of it came close to rank blasphemy,
for which he offered no apology;
rather, he based his faith on those crude lies.
He looked down his beak, disrespectfully,
at Celtic Baptist churches' polity.
But listen to his finest poetry---
the epic voice that told of Paradise,
centered among the vastest, cosmic scenes;
and Samson pulling down the Philistines'

temple.  His sight blinded, Milton dictated
these poems that have been long appreciated.
The message of these poems, and their designs,
are more than just the sum of measured lines.
