My Watercolor Muse

as the color blends unintentionally,

bleeding outside the lines

each mark, run and absorption is taken in

on the easel as it was summoned

the vellum becoming more vibrant- the color ripening

while choosing the spectrum of words

with each stroke of the quill

the tones, shades and hues of this spectrum

were unknown by hand and pen at the start

but it is the only museum I know to go to

This is a very encouraging poem.  I hope to take up watercolor painting, as a rank amateur, when I am released from the rehab hospital.

Cheers, thank you for the

Cheers, thank you for the read. and I do  wish you well in both recoverery and the watercollor painting, take your time with it and if you can find and work with an instructor. watercolor is hard to control at the start. but it is quite beautiful when you catch on to it. I do some watercolor work but mine is mostly in Pastels. Jerry's Artaroma on the net is the cheepest for good quality suplies, I have found. they have free shipping on most orders and they send a lot of coupons that helps the costs. pay a little more if you can on better paints and brushes and paper, it will pay off for you.

keep it simple and basic starting, you will advance faster and be much less frustrated starting out. some things I learned starting myself. be well, Daniella. :)

Thank you for reaching out to

Thank you for reaching out to someone you do not really know to provide kind and expert advice.  I appreciate the idea of spending a little more for quality, and I will try to do so.  Thanks, too, for the good wish for my recovery, I have a long journey ahead.  When I return home, I will get my painting supplies and desk easel, and get started.  Are you familiar with the American poet A, R. Ammons?  He painted abstracts in water colors from 1976 until his passing.  Some of them have fetched high prices on the auction block.  I am not in Ammons' league at all, either as a poet or a painter; and the value of my watercolors wil only be defined, say, by my grandchildren.  But it is still something I want to do as a temporary "step away" from poetry, and Ammons, too, used his painting as a step away from the poems that he was either working on, or were troubling him.

Thanks again for your kind words, and thanks for posting those marvelous love poems.

smile; do not every wor about

smile; do not every wor about being in a professional artists league. they take so many years and time on the drawing board it is not real. all you can do is as Like me and all of us who try. find yoour style, stay loose and paint and draw from the wrist and elbow movement. I have learned if you tighten-up and try to be as precise as they are, you will not make work and be very frustrated. just remember Art has just few fast and hard rules to learn the process at the start.  color, composition (how to place the painting on the paper or canvas) the tone ( the dept of the colors), color thery ( cool and warm colors) and holding the bruches and what they are used for. the rest is your interputritions of the sceen, setting, photo or what you draw. just have fun with it.  every one tells me, just be a kid, throw paint and smile! lol. it is fun that way. you can do it. no one is born a naturalist artist, you just practice till you get a style and technique with the basics. and remember painting is not a photo it is just loose immage not an exacpt copy.
