Reverend Ode

We live, we die, and death doesn't end us:

Like the corroding corpse, even so, is numbered as dust,

Doomed for eternity in the world.

And always that ignorance of profound destiny apart from this creation

In which we pity ourselves

Perhaps cast into the fire, and then washed, forever

Rejoining birth and longevity's form for awhile.

We live, we die, and death doesn't end us.

Dear God, please shed that there is something more, something new and better.

If we become enlightened already, is there another tide up in heaven,

That endless firmament I speculate–

Yea, even through space and time?
