My father

I never saw my father much, he missed a lot of my birthdays and I remember once on a birthday feeling bad when I heard and felt that he was not there. He also missed my birth. My mother sister: my aunt's husband just before I was born gave my mother cash as a gift. I associate that with being a lucky person.

As a child of young age I was living in a majority black system in Africa, Hargeisa then Somalia, no tv at that early age only black, brown, light brown faces. To my recollection the first time I saw a white face was when I being tested to enroll in the America primary school in Doha Qatar then. I falied said my late father.

Now I am not sure if that was true my father was very secretive, he was one of the founders of the Somali National Movement whose aim was to oust Zaid Barre's regime. Mohamed Said was my father name, he was blacklisted by Zaid Barre government. My mom informed me that my uncle, dad's father, was assisnated by Barre's government.

2 year before my father passed away we had a chat about some of the question I wanted to ask, ie, his studies in the US while JFK was shot in the US. My father said they heard on the radio JFK voice saying " I am hit", we also talked about family history, my primary education etc. From then I was working towards closure, and now I have it totally. That day is also memorable also because the BBC reported that China and Russia closed a deal worth billions of dollars.
