I once asked a graduating high school class of black students how many books had they they read this year? One had read one Stephen King book. We have fallen asleep and like a tree ripe with fruit, it is time to shake the apple tree to reap the benefits of a developed brain.

I encounter really nice people but mention tort reform and the correlation to theit son or nephew in federal prison, life ruined and they come up zero. The lyrics to the latest r & b artist's hit and their lifestyle is there for ready recall, but clueless is the ability to grasp the notion of eating less meat and more fiber. Knowledge is free. Visit local library and just browse to encounter the disciplines you have never pursued. Take one off the shelf, crack it in the middle and begin to change life for yourself and your community.
.

Read anything, daily make it a habit. Turn off the cell, Netflix, and You Tube. Crack a 500 page hardback autobiography or how to book, a geography book, a biology test book. Let your kids see you read so that you, their main role model, instills a love of reading in them.
.

Ask a policeman how many books they read this year. There is a reason they are called the humanities. Read a book on ethics or art or  history or economics. Sit down and actually read every word of The Constitution of the USA. Know what lawyers and judges know.

.

Do not read and grow the mind and watch as you sink slowly to the bottom of low pay scale existences. Read. If you can not read, try audio books and have books read  read to you! Finish one and start another one. Psst! Sci-Fi ir a rimance ir a classic. Be cool and know.
