Fear Night

Black Poetry

Goodbye sun, cloak the world
in night’s dangers. Dread the summer
stars, witnesses to what will not
be revealed come morning.
Beautiful black boy, young black
girl beware the curfewed night,
fear the bullet from an anonymous
source. Freedoms for some

are no longer yours again.

Labeled thugs, your hot anger

equals a cold tombstone

and black only tears. Stay

home. I say Death walks

the warm nights of summer.
