Winter Come

A New View

No rows of evergreen carrying

armsful of landscaped winter,

only ledges too warm to grab

a handful of fallen ice.

What you get, you take, a

flat white roof of February. A red

jacket scraping snow from a

hood and windows

Late this year, the inches that

the cold will keep longer. Like

meat in a freezer, preserved

for the thaw.
