No one else

the rogue storm.

And she rowed

until exhaustion

became her

only companion.

Up from tortured

dreams she

drifted to discover

him at the small

boat's bow.

A bifurcated tail

slapped the waves

gently as he sang

to her.

A conch shell

provided cooling

water. His eyes

were both summer

deepest sea green,

and the color of pearls.

Half delusion, he

never spoke. Half

phantom, she

heard his whole

A wide white

sail appeared

on the rescued horizon

and he vanished beneath

rippling waves.

Searching among

distant whitecaps,

it was as if

he had never

been and his

song had not

been sung.

Mr. Peabody & The Mermaid

was a fav as a kid. Splash with hanks & hannah rocked. Ariel was cool too. The poem is an amalgm of those memories & the recent poem by Rebecca Elizabeth. Mer culture rocks!
