Life As Stress

Vintage Words

You wake up, bat eyelashes
and it's stressful. Getting up
seems impossible, the thought
of getting up is stressful.
Deciding what to wear
after the shower, or whether
to take a shower and just
be funky today is the result
of stress.
A headache would be welcome
to drown all this self-inflicted
emotionalism. Images of left over
dreams seem real, may be real.
Stress is the remembrance
of faded hopes and an inability

to relinquish the bombardment

of too slowly fading terrors.
