Oasis

Excuses fly by
And skip off the water
Like the stones being cast
From the house made of glass

After walking for miles
We reached an oasis
How spoiled were we
To complain it was tasteless
When taking things for granted
You reap what you sow
No clue what you had
Until it's gone then you'll know.

And who knows if we'll learn
From mistakes we have made
Or just pluck at our heartstrings
Like a fiddle being played

After wading for hours
You'll sink or you'll swim
I'll toss you an anchor
Watch you drown for your sins
From the boat we were in
It's leaking like a sieve
When taking things for granted
You get what you give

And my thoughts may seem scattered
But remember my basis-
Of knowledge is tattered
After drowning in an oasis
Of love
