Through the Night

I leave after sunset while the glow still dims in the sky... I get on the interstate toward the conscious city... the city never waits, never cares, never pays attention... I'm just another human being seeking movement... I can't stay in that chair forever, in that tiny room forever, in my mind forever... I need circulation, I need risk taking... I need no where to go... no agenda... no plan... no expectation... I need movement through the sultry stagnant night... stop light to stop light to stop light, I go... I take my time in the slow lane... I drink you in... all of you... all of it... I consume rapaciously... and then I return to my home just before sunrise to sleep.
