DEAR ED

A letter I found in my old shoebox,

A letter of so very long ago,

As I read it, tears rolled down my cheeks,

Promises I made, is now smeared with dust.

" Thank you for loving me, I promise I

will take care of you, I will not even die

before you do,thank you for marrying me,I

promise I will be true to you, I will tell

my gods that I will grow old with you.Our

babies will have a gentle mom, a mother to

stay by their side,a mother to wipe their

tears and protect them from all the harm.

Thank you for having me, I will write my

poems for you, and I will read them when you

are tired and blue."

Funny how I kept my promises, there was not

even a good bye, it was a letter of thanks,

of hope, of dreams, and of gratitude to the only

man, I loved and married.

I'm closing my shoebox now, closing it tight

and keeping it still close to my heart.A letter

so insignificant, found and read, after a lifetime

of beautiful union and togetherness.. A letter where

everything written came true.
