Lizard

Rufus listed lazily about the cabin of the ship, as he looked over the log of all research being done at Proxima-One. It was a remarkable station, and he was happy to be going. Of course, this meant he would never see his bitch of an ex wife again, and he would have enough money when he got back to insure that he could research whatever he wanted. Hell, by that time, they may have an entirely manned station out in space, instead of a lonely two-manned pile of ruble.

The intercom cackled to life "Rufus to the bridge, we have an anomaly we want you to take a look at."

Rufus sighed. This wasn't his first space flight, and it sure as hell wasn't his first space flight in which he wasn't constantly interrupted by "anomalies". Generally, it was some senor read that was off, or a captain hoping to stake his fame by being the first to find one.

Rufus found it in him to grumble that he was coming, and grabbed a wall to push himself towards the bridge. That was one thing he loved about low gravity; not walking anywhere. As he neared the bridge, the entire ship shook with enough force to trigger the atmospheric warning. He put on the nearest visor he could, just in case. This was the part he hated about space travel.

"What the hell is going on?" Rufus demanded as another explosion rock him against a beam, and triggered the airlock to shut, separating him from the pilots, right before the power went off. As he listed about the area for a moment in no gravity, he realized just how fucked he was. He knew nothing about how to fi a spacecraft, or if this could even be fixed. He waited for a few moments before switching on his boosters, so he could move about without gravity. As he was making his way towards the onboard emergency AI, another explosion rocked the ship, once again knocking him into the wall, and unconscious.

When Rufus came to, he was no longer onboard the United Earth Federation transport ship, but in some sort of medical bay that he didn't recognize. As he slowly regained his senses, he noticed some large figure standing off to his side, with a large instrument of some kind with liquid coming out the tip.

"Wh-who are you? Where am I" Rufus was dumbfounded as to what was transpiring, as he'd never seen a creature such as this. It stood at nearly eight feet tall, and looked like a mass of muscle and scales.

"Wh-what a-are you?" The creature lumbered over to him, and observed him for a moment, as if trying to decide what to respond with.

"I'm warning you! St-stop what you're doing! I'm the foremost expert on-" He felt a warm sensation in his abdomen, and as he looked down, noticing the needle poking out, as blackness enclosed him.

This was an intense ride! Enjoyed the story. I was just thinking about astral projection and outer space before I saw this.
