Ted

My heart is heavy laden,

As today I learned the truth.

That inside you rages cancer,

While your heart still serves as proof.

That cancer does not stand a chance,

Within the likes of you.

For you are fearless, strong and brave,

It's no match for what you can do.

You're a husband, father and a friend,

In many ways you're so much more.

I think of things you've left to do,

Opportunities yet in store.

So my friend, please fight, fight, fight,

Defeat cancer and dont't look back.

We're lined up and fighting too,

We'll help keep you right on track.

But if that faithful day should come,

When on your soul should pass.

You'll be carried by angles upon high,

Leaving memories here to last.

Remember Ted, cancer never wins,

Give it all you've got to give.

For you beat cancer every day,

By the manner in which you live.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was written for one of my closest friends after his dx of cancer. Tagically, to be too quickly followed by it's closing piece titled, "At Rest", after he continued his journey in the afterlife. He is deeply missed.
